All Saints Parish in Puyallup, Washington is a Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Seattle that traces its origins to 1890, when a visiting priest celebrated Mass for five Catholics in a family home. Established canonically in 1899, the parish constructed its current church building in 1911 — the first brick veneer church in the Puyallup Valley — and it has served as the heart of the parish ever since, expanded in 1962 and rededicated with a new altar by Archbishop Etienne in 2024. History of All Saints Parish
The Catholic community in Puyallup began as a fledgling mission, with the first Mass recorded as early as 1890, celebrated by Fr. John P. Rohlinger among five individuals in a family home. In 1899, Rev. P.C.A. Winter purchased the church on the corner of what is now 5th Avenue and 2nd Street Southwest, formally establishing the parish that year. As the congregation grew, the current church building was constructed and consecrated in 1911 — the first brick veneer church in the Puyallup Valley. It was expanded and remodeled in 1962 to double its capacity, and remains the building where the parish worships today.

Christiansen and three Parochial Vicars — Fathers Dexter Dais, Quy Duong, and Gilberto Mora Tapia — with Father Suresh Gali, O.C.D., appointed as a new Parochial Vicar for the Parish Family beginning July 1. Deacon Daniel Stamper coordinates Baptism Preparation. The parish staff includes pastoral associates for Children's Faith Formation, Adult Formation and Liturgy, Outreach and Marriage, Regional Administration, plus administrative assistants, a bookkeeper, a payroll specialist, and a youth minister.

Mass and Worship Schedule
All Masses are celebrated in the Ordinary Use of the Roman Rite in English unless otherwise indicated. The parish offers one Saturday Vigil Mass and three Sunday Masses, plus a daily 8:00 am Mass Monday through Friday (8:30 am on Wednesdays during the school year). Confessions are heard Saturday afternoons from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm and by request after any Mass.

Programs include Bible Studies, faith-sharing groups, speaker series, and weekend retreats, alongside structured Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation, and Baptism. RCIA welcomes adults seeking full initiation into the Catholic Church, and Marriage Preparation is coordinated by the Pastoral Associate for Outreach and Marriage.

All Saints Catholic School
Founded in 1954 with 203 enrolled students, All Saints Catholic School remains one of the parish's largest ministries. The school is committed to providing an educationally challenging program that focuses on the whole child in an environment where students and their families are valued and accepted, and the Catholic faith is lived out daily. It serves a diverse population from 18 months of age through 8th grade, drawing students from the Puyallup Valley and several surrounding parishes.

Outreach: All Saints Community Services
All Saints Community Services, housed inside the parish office at 204 6th Ave SW, provides material assistance to those in need in the Puyallup area. Programs include help with rent (for Puyallup residents with a disconnection notice), utilities, and prescription medication. Homelessness Prevention funds are disbursed by the Servants of St. Teresa, an All Saints Parish ministry. The parish notes it does not operate a walk-in food bank.

Parish Family 34 and Partners in the Gospel
In July 2024, under the Archdiocese of Seattle's Partners in the Gospel strategic pastoral planning process, All Saints (Puyallup), Sacred Heart (Tacoma), and St. Martin of Tours (Fife) were placed into Parish Family 34 under one pastor — Father Cal Christiansen — and are working toward becoming one canonical parish by 2027 through a process called One Parish Planning. Two consultative bodies are guiding the work: the Parish Family Leadership Team (PFLT, composed of parish staff) and the Parish Family Advisory Council (PFAC, composed of volunteers).

Liturgy and Sacred Art
The sanctuary at All Saints was reshaped in 2024 around a new wood altar dedicated by Archbishop Etienne during Mass on January 21, 2024. The altar's design is rich with Catholic symbolism: the wood references Jesus the carpenter; its octagonal shape evokes the eighth day of Resurrection and eternal life; the circular limestone flooring beneath alludes to the Communion host; and an altar stone from the original 1911 high altar is set into it, recalling the early Christians who celebrated Mass in the catacombs. The parish has also received a generous bequest to commission a statue of Jesus with children — a figure chosen to honor the parish's largest ministry, the formation and education of children — with one of the children's likenesses referencing the parish's location among the Puyallup Tribe.
