All Saints Parish is a Catholic community in Portland's historic Laurelhurst neighborhood, founded in 1917 by Archbishop Alexander D. Christie, who later also founded the University of Portland. History
All Saints Parish was founded in December 1917 by Archbishop Alexander D. Christie, with the first meeting held on December 15, 1917 at the offices of the Laurelhurst Company. Rev. William B. Cronin presided over the assembly and Christie purchased several lots on Block 1 in the new Laurelhurst development as the parish site. Portland architect Joseph Jacobberger designed the Tudor Gothic church and rectory, dedicated in January 1918. A parish history titled 'A Community of Saints: The History of All Saints Parish: 1917–1992' is the primary source for the parish's published record.
- 1917: Parish founded by Archbishop Alexander D. Christie; lots purchased from the Laurelhurst Company.

Architecture & Art
The present All Saints Church was designed by Franks and Norman in 1967 as one of the first generation of post-Vatican II Catholic churches in the Portland area. Its low-slung base and rectangular nave with vertical dalle de verre windows reflect the progressive liturgical spirit of the era. Notable artworks include ceramic Stations of the Cross by Italian sculptor Ugo Marinangeli and dalle de verre stained-glass windows by French artist Gabriel Loire, including a large nave window depicting the Holy Spirit. The original 1917–1918 church — a Tudor Gothic structure with cedar shakes, a steeply pitched roof, vaulted windows, and English Gothic arches — was demolished prior to construction of the existing building.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
Faith Formation at All Saints serves teenagers, young adults, and seniors through the study of Scripture and Catholic Tradition. Programs include Elementary Faith Formation for Children, First Reconciliation and First Eucharist preparation (a family-based program traditionally for second graders), and OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) for adults seeking Baptism, full Communion, or deeper formation. RCIA classes meet Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM beginning each October and run through Easter.

All Saints Catholic School
All Saints Catholic School is a parish elementary school serving grades K-8 at 601 NE Cesar E. Chavez Blvd, Portland, OR 97232. The school was conceived by Father William Cronin and Archbishop Christie in 1924 and opened on September 13, 1936 after successful legal challenges to state and county restrictions. It has been staffed historically by the Sisters of the Holy Names (1936–1954) and the Franciscan Sisters (1954–1986). In 1965 All Saints became the first parish in the Archdiocese of Portland to adopt a lay-majority policy board for its school. The parish school is led by Principal Melissa Doxtator and Vice Principal Holly Safranski, with Father Paul Jeyamani serving as Pastor. Parish Ministries
All Saints Parish supports a wide range of lay ministries serving worship, formation, hospitality, and outreach. Music is led by Director of Music Patrick Driscoll with a monthly Family Mass where parents and children serve together. The St. Vincent de Paul Society — first established at All Saints in 1935 — runs the parish's ongoing food drive and holiday basket program within parish borders. Liturgical roles are filled by Sacristans, Altar Servers, Lectors & Commentators, Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers/Greeters, and the Altar Linen team, while the Flower Team beautifies the sanctuary and the Baptism Garments ministry crafts the bibs and stoles worn at baptisms.

Sacraments
All Saints prepares parishioners for the full sacramental life of the Church. Infant Baptism (birth to age 6) requires parents to attend two preparation classes held three times a year. Children age 7 and older are prepared through the OCIA process and received at the Easter Vigil. First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are prepared through a family-based program. Adults seeking full Communion — whether unbaptized, baptized in another Christian denomination, or baptized Catholic returning to the faith — enter OCIA in the fall and are typically received at the Easter Vigil.
