Why belong here

All Saints offers a small, traditional Adirondack Catholic community where Mineville-area families can worship close to home. As part of the Catholic Community of Moriah it shares one pastor (Fr. Joseph W. Giroux) and a permanent deacon (Deacon Paul White) with the neighboring parishes of Port Henry, Crown Point, Elizabethtown and Westport, so congregants benefit from a wider pastoral team and shared liturgical life while still gathering at their own familiar Bartlett Pond Road church. Saturday evening Mass and the seasonal Saturday confession schedule make it accessible for working families, and the parish is supported by the diocesan infrastructure of the Diocese of Ogdensburg.

History of All Saints & the Mineville Catholic Community

The Mineville Catholic community grew out of the Irish immigration that followed the 1840s iron-ore boom. Before they had a local church, Mineville Catholics had to travel seven miles down the mountain to St. Patrick's in Port Henry (dedicated 1852) or worship in private homes. In 1870 a second Catholic church, Sts. Peter and Paul, was built in Mineville and served as the 'Mother Church' for both Mineville and Witherbee. A later wave of Eastern and Southern European immigration in the 1890s–1900s brought Italians, Poles, Lithuanians and others; the Poles established their own parish, St. Michael's, around 1910. Over time the original Mineville parish was reorganized as the Church of All Saints, which continues today as part of the Catholic Community of Moriah.

  • 1870: Sts. Peter and Paul built in Mineville as the first local Catholic church
  • Mineville Catholics had previously traveled to St. Patrick's, Port Henry (est. 1852)
  • Around 1910: Polish community establishes St. Michael's
  • 20th century: Parish reorganized and re-dedicated as the Church of All Saints
