Parish History

All Saints Parish was created in 2010 through the merger of Saint Mary Magdalen and Saint John Bosco, two parishes that had served the Millville community for generations. Saint Mary Magdalen's parish school opened in 1882 under Father Charles J. Giese, making it one of the oldest Catholic schools in the Diocese of Camden, and continued until its closure in 2012. Saint John Bosco's roots include a basement church built in 1905. Father Paul Olszewski led the early consolidation, and Father Peter Idler, V.F., was named pastor in 2017, overseeing the renovation of the former Saint Mary Magdalen Regional School into the present parish campus.

Saint John Bosco Chapel

The Saint John Bosco Chapel, consecrated January 31 by Bishop Joseph Williams, is the spiritual and architectural heart of the renovated parish campus. Built inside a former classroom of the old Saint Mary Magdalen Regional School, the chapel's design was driven by stained-glass windows salvaged from the closed Saint John Bosco Church, depicting the Seven Sacraments, the descent of the Holy Spirit and the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. Pews, ambo, altars, tabernacle and statues from Saint John Bosco were reinstalled in the new space, and the ceiling recalls the copper ceiling of the 1905 basement church.

Mass and Worship Schedule

All Saints offers a full weekly schedule of Masses and devotions, with weekend Masses celebrated at Saint Mary Magdalen Church and daily Mass in the Saint John Bosco Chapel. The parish also provides generous opportunities for Reconciliation throughout the week.

Parish Staff and Clergy

All Saints is led by a small but dedicated team of clergy, parish staff and lay leaders. Father Peter Idler, V.F., has served as pastor since 2017 and is assisted by two deacons and several staff members who keep the parish's programs, offices, facilities and sacraments running.

Sacraments

All Saints prepares parishioners for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, First Eucharist, and serves as a source for Godparent and sponsor eligibility. Parents are required to attend Sunday Mass for six months prior to a child's Baptism and must complete a Baptism Preparation Class with all paperwork in hand at least one month in advance.

• Confirmation — preparation through PREP
• First Eucharist / First Communion — 2 years of PREP required, preceded by First Confession
• Godparents & Sponsors — must be practicing Catholics, at least 16, Baptized and Confirmed; if married, married in the Catholic Church

Outreach and Charity

All Saints carries out a wide range of outreach and charity work, from direct food assistance to spiritual care of the sick and homebound. The parish's St. Martin de Porres Food Pantry is a community fixture, distributing groceries every week; its St. Vincent de Paul Conference provides financial assistance to neighbors in need; and Ministry of Care volunteers bring Holy Communion and prayer to the elderly, sick and homebound.

• All Saints St. Vincent de Paul Conference — financial assistance within parish boundaries
• Ministry of Care — visits, prayer and Holy Communion to the sick, elderly and homebound
• Show Them We Care — Military Packages program
• Prayer Blanket Ministry — hand-made blessed blankets for those in difficulty
• Giving Tree — annual Christmas collection
• Caring Cooks — meals for parishioners in need

Parish Apostolates and Volunteers

Beyond outreach, All Saints runs a robust network of volunteer 'apostolates' that sustain the parish's worship, hospitality and community life. Whether someone has a professional skill, an hour to spare or a willingness to pray, there is a place to serve.

• Hospitality — bakers, setup and cleanup crews who welcome parishioners and visitors
• The Martha's — church cleaning crew meeting the 3rd Friday after 8:00 AM Mass
• Saintly Helpers — flexible volunteers for clerical, gardening and light project work
• Parish Nursing — healthcare professionals supporting mind, body and soul
• Praise Group — prayer warriors gathering the 1st and 4th Wednesday after 8:00 AM Mass
