All Saints is a Roman Catholic parish in Berlin, Wisconsin, part of the Diocese of Madison. It was formed on July 1, 2001 by merging three historic Berlin parishes — St. Joseph (founded 1851, Irish), St. Stanislaus (founded 1870, Polish), and St. Michael (founded 1885, Polish/German) — making it the first parish merger in the Diocese of Madison. Today All Saints serves approximately 900 Catholic families in Berlin and the surrounding area, and operates All Saints Catholic School. On March 1, 2025, Bishop Donald J. Hying grouped All Saints with five neighboring churches to form Mater Dei Parish, with All Saints Church in Berlin serving as the mother church and the home of the parish school.

Parish History
Catholicism in Berlin began around 1848 when Irish Catholic settlers in Strong's Landing petitioned Bishop Henni of Milwaukee for a priest. The first formal Mass was celebrated in 1851 in Badger Hall on Pearl and Huron Streets, founding St. Joseph Parish. St. Stanislaus was founded in 1870 after Polish immigrant Albert Hopka welcomed Fr. Bronislaus Buczynski to his home, and St. Michael was established in 1885 by Bishop Xavier Katzer of Green Bay for Polish and German Catholics on Berlin's west side. The three parish schools joined in 1979 as Berlin Catholic School and consolidated into one building in 1991. After years of linked-parish planning, the Diocese of Madison merged them on July 1, 2001 to form All Saints Parish — the diocese's first parish merger. A new church opened in 2007 and the parish social hall/administrative wing was blessed in 2014. In March 2025 All Saints became the principal church of the new Mater Dei Parish.

All Saints is currently served as part of Mater Dei Parish by Pastor Rev. Msgr. James L. Gunn (ordained 1977), who became parochial administrator in August 2024 and was installed as Mater Dei's first pastor on March 30, 2025 by Bishop Donald J. Hying. He is assisted by associate pastors Fr. Anthony Thirumalareddy and Fr. Bill Kearley, with Fr. Eric Nielsen also serving Mater Dei Parish as a parochial vicar. Deacons Terry Larbes and Jim Hoegemeier assist. All Saints Catholic School
All Saints Catholic School (ASCS) is the parish's regional K-8 Catholic elementary school, located at 151 S Grove Street, Berlin, WI 54923 (phone 920-361-1781). It is accredited through the Wisconsin Religious and Independent School Accrediting Association and offers All Day 3K and 4K programs through 8th grade. The school is a direct continuation of the three original parish schools that joined together as Berlin Catholic School in 1979 and consolidated into the current St. Michael building in 1991.

Religious Education & Sacramental Preparation
All Saints runs a parish Religious Education Program directed by Michelle Wolff that prepares children and adults for the sacraments. Children in 2nd grade prepare for First Reconciliation, celebrated during Advent, and then for First Holy Communion. Confirmation preparation is offered for older students, and the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) welcomes unbaptized adults and those entering into full communion with the Catholic Church. Home-school families may follow diocesan-approved formation materials. Baptisms are usually celebrated on Sundays after the 10:00 AM Mass; parents contact the parish office to schedule with the pastor.

Liturgical Ministries
Parishioners serve the liturgy as Altar Servers (4th grade and up), Eucharistic Ministers (both at Mass and bringing Communion to the homebound), Lectors/Ministers of the Word, Ministers of Hospitality (Ushers), and writers of the General Intercessions. The parish also maintains a Music Ministry under Director of Music Erin Mueller. Training is provided for each role, and the Liturgy Committee — composed of the pastor, ministry heads, and interested parishioners — meets in August, October, January, and May to plan the liturgical celebrations.

Service & Outreach
All Saints brings Holy Communion regularly to the sick and homebound in the Berlin community, including residents at Berlin Memorial Hospital, Juliette Manor Nursing Home, Heartsong, Brown Wilcox Assisted Living, and Patriot Place, as well as to individuals in their own homes. The parish also supports the wider community through its Service Ministry and through parish organizations such as the Knights of Columbus and the Council of Catholic Women. Vocations awareness is actively promoted, with priests and the parish encouraging young men to consider the priesthood.

All Saints is led in collaboration with elected lay leadership. The Parish Pastoral Council includes Greg Walker, Joyce Pindel, Greg Blaskowski, Beth Nighbor, Renee Braun, Marianne Frei, Chuck Dolgner, Pierce Reese-Grimm, Rebecca Wood, Peter Zopf, Rita Thrasher, Mike Stellmacher, Oz Kinas, Dale Pulvermacher, Paul Hagan, and Dave Golz. Parish Trustees are Doug Petraszek (President), Tim Bartol (Vice President), Steve Thomas (Secretary), and Wayne Lundt (Treasurer). Mater Dei Parish (2025)
On March 1, 2025, Bishop Donald J. Hying of the Diocese of Madison established Mater Dei Parish by grouping six historic churches under one pastorate: All Saints in Berlin, Our Lady of the Lake in Green Lake, St. Mary in Kingston, St. Joseph in Markesan, St. James in Neshkoro, and St. John the Baptist in Princeton (the Kingston and Markesan churches had previously formed Holy Family Parish). All Saints Church in Berlin serves as the principal church and is the home of All Saints Catholic School. Msgr. James L. Gunn was installed as the first pastor on March 30, 2025 at the 10:00 AM Mass at All Saints.
