All Saints Roman Catholic Church is a historic parish at 1441 Teche Street in the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, founded in 1919 by the Society of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart (the Josephites) as the first African American Catholic church on the Westbank. The church building was dedicated and consecrated in the summer of 1920, designed by architect Alexander W. Norman in a Mission/Spanish Colonial Revival style with Craftsman elements, and the All Saints Church and School complex was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in December 2019. Today the parish offers daily and Sunday Mass in English, weekend Confession, Thursday Eucharistic Adoration, and a vibrant community of lay organizations including the Knights of Peter Claver, the Altar Society, the Men of Vision, and a Rosary Group.

Why belong here
All Saints is the historic first African American Catholic church on the Westbank of New Orleans and has served Algiers with the sacraments, catechesis and social outreach for more than a century. Worshippers can attend Mass seven days a week (Tuesday–Friday 6:30 AM, Saturday Vigil 5 PM with Gospel music, Sunday 8 and 10 AM) and Confession on Saturday and Sunday, with all-night Eucharistic Adoration on Thursdays. Members of the Altar Society, Knights of Peter Claver Council 36 and Ladies Auxiliary, the Men of Vision (which offers free Saturday instrumental music lessons to youth and adults), the Rosary Group, and parish youth and religious-education ministries make this an unusually active parish rooted in music, prayer, and racial-justice witness.

About All Saints Catholic Church
All Saints Roman Catholic Church is a Roman Rite parish at 1441 Teche Street in the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. Founded in 1919 by the Josephites (Society of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart) as the first African American Catholic church on New Orleans's Westbank, it has served the Algiers community for more than a century. The parish is named for the Solemnity of All Saints, celebrated each year on November 1. It belongs to the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
History
All Saints was established in 1919 by Rev. James Albert, S.S.J., to evangelize the African American community on the Westbank; the church edifice was dedicated and consecrated in the summer of 1920, and an accompanying school was founded soon after. The Josephites — a religious congregation whose exclusive mission is service to the African American community — have staffed the parish continuously, with priests remembered for free music lessons, summer tutoring for neighborhood children, support of school integration, and medical care at the Fisher Clinic in Algiers.

Architecture & Historic Landmark Status
The All Saints Church and School complex was designed by New Orleans architect Alexander W. Norman in a Mission/Spanish Colonial Revival style with Craftsman elements, with significant construction years 1921, 1931, and 1952. On December 5, 2019 — timed to the parish centennial — the property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its significance to Black ethnic heritage and religion.

Music at All Saints
Music has been a defining element of worship at All Saints. The Saturday Vigil Mass is identified with Gospel music, and through the Men of Vision ministry the parish offers free instrumental music classes every Saturday from 8:00 to 10:00 AM in the Church Hall, taught by Mr. Alvin Griffin (Vice President, Men of Vision), and open to everyone in the parish and the broader Algiers community from school age through adulthood.
