About Junípero Serra High School
Junípero Serra High School is a private, Catholic, college-preparatory high school for boys in San Mateo, California. Founded in 1944 by Archbishop John J. Mitty, it was notably the first Catholic high school west of the Mississippi to be staffed entirely by diocesan priests, transitioning to lay leadership beginning in 1978. Affiliated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco, the school has educated more than 14,000 alumni over 80-plus years. Its teams are known as the Padres.
