About Saint Mary's Academy
Saint Mary's Academy is a historically Black Catholic school in New Orleans, founded in 1867 by the Sisters of the Holy Family — the second Black Catholic religious order in the United States. It was established to educate young African American women during segregation, inspired by foundress Venerable Henriette DeLille.
