Over five decades ago, while at lunch in a South Florida deli, attorneys Larry J. Hoffman, Mel Greenberg, and Robert Traurig saw an opportunity to establish a new breed of law firm for South Florida — a firm that mirrored a New York style firm. In 1967, they founded Greenberg Traurig Hoffman as a quality business law firm where client service and collaboration ruled. The firm has never done a merger and remains one firm; growth has come through lateral hires that fit the culture and through new offices opened in response to client needs. Larry Hoffman became managing partner in 1991, and the firm began expanding nationwide, opening its New York office and, in 1999, simultaneously opening offices in Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, and Wilmington, Delaware.
