Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center (CHPC) is a faith-based 501(c)(3) non-profit located at 713 Maryland Ave NE in Washington, DC, that serves women, men and families facing unexpected or crisis pregnancies. Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center (legal name on IRS filings: Capitol Hill Crisis Pregnancy Center) opened its doors in 1985 on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, and has since ministered to more than 66,000 women and men, with the organization reporting that over 6,000 babies have been born as a result of its work. If a client has had unprotected sex or has missed a period, CHPC offers lab-quality pregnancy testing at its center at no cost. After a positive test, the center provides options education covering parenting, adoption, abortion and the abortion pill in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Services are free and confidential.

Parenting Classes
CHPC's parenting program runs in two semester sessions (September–November and January–May), meeting on Thursday evenings in 2026 from January 15 through June 25. Each evening begins with a light meal provided by the CHPC community; parents then drop children off in a supervised nursery with age-appropriate activities. After the lesson there is an optional 15-minute Bible study and prayer time open to all participants. Anyone who considers themselves a parent — moms, dads, stepparents, foster parents, grandparents — is welcome, and the program can provide documentation for court-ordered parenting classes.

Childbirth Classes
CHPC offers free, full-day childbirth classes for expecting moms (due before a specified cutoff) plus one support person, with lunch provided. Topics cover labor, delivery and preparation for bringing baby home.

Material Resource Support (Baby Items)
To ease the financial burden of having and caring for a baby, CHPC provides a variety of pregnancy and baby items at no cost. Services are by appointment only, and each family is welcome to come every 30 days to receive items such as baby clothes, diapers, wipes, children's books and baby equipment. Grief & Healing Support
CHPC walks with clients through several kinds of loss. The center offers after-abortion support, miscarriage support and support after stillbirth or infant death. Each program emphasizes listening, validation and a non-judgmental space, acknowledging that 'grief is unique and personal with no timeline.'

CHPC welcomes financial gifts online and material donations during business hours (call first to confirm someone is available). Accepted items are new or gently used, in sizes premie through 4T for children's clothing, with restrictions on items such as cribs, used toys, used pack 'n plays, opened diaper packages, used car seats and used bottles/pump parts/pacifiers.

Leadership and Staff
Janet Durig served as CHPC's Executive Director for more than 19 years before transitioning in August 2024 to an emeritus, part-time support role. Jamie Maloney, who first came to CHPC 13 years ago as a post-abortion-program volunteer, became client services director in 2019, center director in 2024, and Executive Director in August 2024. The center is governed by a volunteer board listed in GuideStar filings including a Chairman (Jason Townsend), Vice-Chair (Wendy Wright), Treasurer (Paul Perrone) and Secretary (Kristen Layman), along with board members Jack Heretik, James Mazol, Anna Sugg, Felicia Taylor, John Wesley Reid, Scott Montrey and Tyler Young.

Volunteer and Church Partnerships
CHPC actively partners with Capitol Hill-area church community groups — GraceDC lists CHPC as a local partner and recruits volunteers to bring meals, babysit during parenting classes, fold baby clothes, organize supplies, assist with mailings and serve as mentors for fathers. Prayer requests include the impact of parenting classes, physical protection of the building and people at the center (especially after vandalism following the Dobbs ruling), new volunteers, and a sonographer to help with ultrasounds.
