The Cathedral of Christ the King in Superior, Wisconsin, is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Superior. Construction was announced in February 1926, ground was broken on June 23, 1926, and Bishop Joseph Pinten blessed and laid the cornerstone on October 24, 1926; the cathedral was dedicated on Christmas, 1927. Earlier, the small frame Sacred Heart church had served as the diocese's pro-cathedral. The building underwent a major exterior and interior renovation in 2003-2004, re-dedicated in February 2005.
