St. Benedict Parish in Evansville, Indiana, was established in 1912 and entrusted to Benedictine monks of St. Meinrad Abbey. The present Lombard-Basilica-style church, designed by architect Edward J. Thole and built by contractor Michael J. Hoffman, was dedicated on March 18, 1928. On April 11, 1999, it was consecrated as the third cathedral of the Diocese of Evansville (after Assumption and Holy Trinity), and it remains the diocese's seat today.
