Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh, North Carolina. Fundraising began in 2012 under Bishop Michael F. Burbidge to replace the small 1924 Sacred Heart Cathedral; the new cathedral was designed by the firm O'Brien & Keane of Arlington, Virginia, with ground broken on January 3, 2015. Dedicated on July 26, 2017 at a cost of roughly $46 million, it seats about 2,000 worshipers and is among the largest cathedrals in the United States.
