The Cathedral of St. Vincent de Paul in Elmont, New York, occupies a building originally constructed as a Roman Catholic church (groundbreaking 1952, completed 1953). It was established as a Syro-Malankara cathedral parish on September 8, 2013, by Major Archbishop Baselios Cleemis and Bishop Thomas Mar Eusebius, formed by merging the parishes of St. John Chrysostom (Long Island) and St. Basil (Queens). It serves as the seat of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy of St. Mary, Queen of Peace, of the USA and Canada, which was raised to eparchial status on January 4, 2016.
