Ste. Anne de Detroit was founded on July 26, 1701 by French colonists led by Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, making it the second-oldest continuously operating Roman Catholic parish in the United States. The present Gothic Revival church, designed by Leon Cocquard and built in 1886, stands in Detroit's Hubbard-Richard neighborhood. Pope Francis elevated it to a minor basilica on March 1, 2020.
