History
FOCUS — the Fellowship of Catholic University Students — was founded in 1998 by Curtis Martin, beginning with a handful of missionaries at Benedictine College in Kansas. Martin envisioned a renewal of the Church through college students, who would be invited into authentic friendship, formed in the faith, and sent out to share it.
Built on a method of investing in small groups and one-on-one discipleship modeled on Jesus and the apostles, FOCUS grew quickly from one campus to hundreds. Its missionaries live among students for one to several years, walking with them in friendship and faith.
Today FOCUS serves on hundreds of college campuses and parishes across the United States and internationally, and has helped form many priests, religious, and lay leaders.
What they do
- Send trained missionaries to live and minister on college campuses
- Lead Bible studies and small-group discipleship
- Form students through mission trips and conferences (including SEEK)
- Send graduates out as lifelong missionary disciples
How to get involved
If you're a college student, look for FOCUS at your campus Newman Center or Catholic ministry and join a Bible study or reach out to a missionary. Graduates and supporters can serve as missionaries, become FOCUS Missionary Partners, or support the mission financially through the official website.
